| 55 | A prominent Democratic leader in Iowa politics, the Linn County government building was named in her honor as the Jean Oxley Linn County Public Service Center in 2012. In 1970 she was the first woman elected Chairperson for the Linn County Democrats and she was the first woman elected to the Linn County Board of Supervisors. She served for 24 years, from 1972 to 1996. She was the second woman in the State of Iowa to hold a leadership position on a County Board of Supervisors and the first to serve as president of a 400-member State Supervisors Association.
